Feeding Details & Tips to raise Pig:
  • Feed as the sole ration.
  • Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times.
  • Start on feed when pig is at 75 pounds bodyweight. From 75 to 175 pounds bodyweight, feed about 4 to 6 pounds per head per day.
  • From 175 pounds to market weight, feed about 6 to 8 pounds per day depending on body weight, condition and desired performance.
  • Have clean, dry bedding and a warm, draft-free environment.
  • Start with a healthy pig that has the potential to develop the desirable characteristics that judges want.

  • Feed at the same time each day and increase feed volume gradually as the pig grows.
  • De-worm pigs regularly as directed by your veterinarian.
  • Avoid direct sunlight on light-skinned pigs to minimize the risk of sunburn.
  • Exercise show pigs by walking them three to five times per week to improve control in the show ring and showmanship skills.
  • Check weight gains at regular intervals and adjust daily feeding rate as needed to ensure weight targets are reached.

Feed is perishable. Store feed in a clean, cool and dry location. Storage area should be free of insects and rodents. Do not allow animal's access to feedstuffs directly that could generate sign of insects or rodent infestation. Do not allow animal’s access to hot or moldy feedstuffs at any time.
